and to ensure we are always at the right locations and on time. You can also help us during post production by providing your preferences for certain
elements of the video.

Depending on your package chosen, we will cover the photo sessions during your wedding day.
For the session prior to the ceremony, the coverage will include the bride's prep, candid moments between the bridesmaids & parents and only some of the posed shots. This will allow the videographer enough time to setup at the ceremony location and to ensure enough establishing shots of the ceremony location, the groomsmen and guests arriving.

Similarly, during the session(s) between the ceremony and the reception, the coverage will include candid shots of the guests interacting at the photo session and some of the posed shots. Depending on how much time is allotted, we may ask for some staged creative shots for the video. The videographer reserves the right to depart from the photo session at the appropriate time to ensure that establishing shots of the reception can be captured as well as to ensure that our audio equipment is set up to capture the grand entrance.

It is not our intent to simply duplicate the photograghers posed static shots on video, but to make a montage of the moving events in and around the photo sessions. If you require most of the posed shots to be fimed for either session or if you have any special requests or video shots during these sessions, please advise us in the comment box below.

Venue Lighting

Many of the receptions we have covered recently have been very dark. Dark venues can be disastrous to a wedding video especially during the toasts. We do have a video light that we can use to lessen the yellow grainy footage of a dark venue. Alternatively, the house lights could be turned up for the toasts. It's always a trade off between the ambiance of the room and to have enough light to make an acceptable video.

If you are planning on having a dimly lit reception, please advise us of your preferences:

We will give Ocean Mist Videography full discretion with regards to the use their video light. We prefer to have properly lit footage over the mild annoyance of having a video light on during the reception.

We wish to have the reception covered without the use of a video light. We realize this may result in grainy footage.

We wish to have the house lights turned up during the toasts. We realize that OMV is not responsible to control the house lights and that we must appoint someone to do so.

Powerpoint Slideshows

Photo montages (created by friends or family members) presented at the reception are not included as part of our video packages. We will only capture a short clip of the wedding couple watching the slideshow as part of the edited video. Couples who wish to have these slideshows included within the video will be required to pay an extra negotiated fee to cover off the extra editing time. In such cases, third party slideshows will be included as part of a bonus section of the video. Only photo montages created or presented by Ocean Mist Videography will be automatically included in the final video production.

Kissing Games

We will be filming most of your guests antics during the reception and we will include only the "best of the best" in the final production. If your reception will have a lot of these kissing games (mini-golf, shoe game, sing a song, etc), the ones that will be cut may be included in a bonus section of the video.

Video Editing Details

Music Selection for the Video

We normally choose appropriate music to enhance your video depending on the given scene. We normally incorporate a mixture of instrumentals (piano and strings), orchestral cinematic scores, and contemporary music. However, we also realize that couples do have special songs that they may want to add to the video.

Post-Production

We strive to condense the footage so that all the important elements of your wedding day is portrayed. We sometimes use flash back segments where two or more clips of the wedding are combined into one continuous segment. We feel that this type of story telling is more effective in that the same message can be told in less time. For example, we can incorporate the "cake cutting" segment within the first waltz. So while the couple is dancing, the video turns to the cake cutting and then back to the waltz. This shortens the video, but the story is still told. The same can be said for the other formal dances. Some couples prefer to only have 1-2 minutes of each dance in their video.

Our Video Demos:

When you previewed our online demos or full length videos on DVD, did you notice anything (however minimal or petty) in the edited versions that you disliked? If so, please describe them below and we will ensure that they are not repeated in your video.

    Video Format
    We no longer offer VHS copies as part of our video packages. We prefer to deliver all our videos on     DVD format due to the enhanced quality. VHS copies can still be ordered at an additional cost of         $35 per extra copy. VHS copying charges will be added to your chosen package.
